This DIY hook rack is so cute and can be easily customized to fit your decor and needs. This one is now proudly displayed in my daughter’s room as a coat hanger, but the possibilities here are endless. It is so simple to make, my three-year-old joined in the process! All in all, this DIY hook rack took a few hours and cost less than $30 to make.

Supplies Needed
- Paint & paintbrush
- 4 cabinet knobs of your choice (you can find the ones I used here)
- 1/4 in plywood panel
- White picture frame moulding
- Phillips-head screwdriver
- Picture-hanging kit
- 1/2 in staples
- Drill
Tutorial
First, staple the 1/4 in plywood to the picture frame moulding by stapling through the back of the 1/4 in plywood into the border. Be sure to place the staples through the border diagonally in the four corners so that it blends with the seam. Attach the pieces of the picture-hanging kit to the back of the plywood.
Then comes the fun part: painting! Prop the hook rack up on a higher surface (we used leftover wood blocks) for easier painting.
Paint one coat, let it dry, and then give it a second coat. Once that coat has dried you can touch up any areas that need it.
Pro-tip: While waiting between coats of paint, stick your paintbrush in a ziplock bag and it will stay wet and be ready to go when you need it.
This is especially important if you have any impatient “big helpers” on this project! Sophia had a blast helping out for her own room decor.
Once the hook rack has completely dried, measure and drill your four holes for the cabinet knobs. Run the screw for the cabinet knob (these are included with the ones I purchased) through the plywood and tighten with the screwdriver.
Then hang it up and enjoy!

This is a lovely hook rack! I really like how feminine you made something that is usually so utilitarian. Thank you for sharing the step-by-step process.
